A completed trade involving a Bruins fan favourite that changes everything
On This day in July 7th, 2008 the Tampa Bay Lightning signed Mark Recchi signing a one-year deal with the team.
He would sign the deal for $1.25 Million AAV, and score 45 points with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Despite the production, in 62 games, he would be traded to the Boston Bruins, and would stay in Boston until 2011.
He would finish off the 2008-2009 season playing 18 games with Boston, scoring 16 points( 10 G, 6 A) before playing two full season with the Bruins.
"To get picked up by a first-place team is really nice and comforting. It's a team that thinks I can help, and I'm going to do everything I can to," Recchi said in a conference call. "Boston's been pretty successful the last few years with other sports. I think it's Bruins time."

Boston in return would send Petteri Nokelainen to Tampa Bay for Recchi, which was a steal for Boston.
During the 2010-2011 season he would score 48 points( 14 G, 34 A) and lift the Stanley Cup again with the Bruins after their defeat of the Vancouver Canucks in Game 7.
