The Boston Bruins need help down the middle, as neither Pavel Zacha nor Charlie Coyle can handle the duties of a 1C.
Along with their recent free agent signing, Elias Lindholm their hopes of depth down the middle have been dashed. But with news of a rift in Vancouver, GM Don Sweeney could take advantage of the Canucks in a difficult period and take a burden off of their shoulders.
That burden is JT Miller, who has been in the news for antagonizing Center Elias Pettersson.
The cost to acquire him won't be cheap, as it could cost the Bruins three roster players like: Parker Wotherspoon, Trent Frederic or Pavel Zacha, and two draft picks.
That could be a massive coup, especially if the Bruins cannot sign Trent Frederic who is due a raise on his next contract.
Frederic is a pending UFA and could add some grit to the Canucks lineup, and refill their prospect pool with Wotherspoon and the picks attached.
Miller could add some additional firepower missing in the lineup that only Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak can typically provide for the Bruins.
The major issue required to be addressed before adding Miller is finding the cap space in order to do so. Moving Frederic and Wotherspoon would relieve the team of $3.2 Million in cap space and would have to find additional room afterward.
But if GM Don Sweeney could find a way to include a third team to take on Miller's cap space for an additional pick, the B's could make it work.
Last season in 81 games Miller provided the Canucks with reliable production scoring 37 goals, and 103 points.
