A ridiculous mock trade has surfaced on social media which would send Jeremy Swayman to the Montreal Canadiens
There's trades that are ridiculous everywhere, you can find them on PuckPedia's GM, but this one takes the cake.
As an NHL Trade Bot decided to trade Jeremy Swayman to the Montreal Canadiens, and it's a ridiculous trade.
While the return isn't terrible, and it would mean the Bruins have more help on offense and defense, the return in net is.. questionable at best.
It would send Jeremy Swayman to Montreal for Lane Hutson, Ivan Demidov, Samuel Montembeault, and a 2025 2nd-round pick.
While the first half of the trade is really great, the latter part of it is really just a part of the package which is neither bad, but it's not great either.
Montembeault had to play as the Canadiens 1A goalie, for the majority of the season in 2023-2024, it's arguable if he could hold the job in Boston.
In 2023-2024 he started 41 games for the Canadiens, with a 16-15-0 record, 3.14 GAA, and a .903 save percentage splitting games with Jake Allen and Cayden Primeau.
The 2nd round would pick wouldn't be a bad return as it could be used to acquire more talent through draft or trade in the future, but for a team who wants to win a cup, they'll be moved somehow.
It's difficult to see the Habs ever parting ways with Lane Huston and Ivan Demidov though.
The bot is absolutely bonkers suggesting this one.
