Former Detroit Red Wing Stanley Cup Champion Sergei Mnatsakanov tragically passed away
It was just announced by the Detroit Red Wings that their former masseur Sergei Mnatsakanov has sadly passed away.
Sergei Mnatsakanov was a therapist for the Detroit Red Wings. Just a couple days after the Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup in 1997 Mnatsakanov would be involved in a car accident that would leave him with life-changing injuries, and on Friday he passed away as announced by the team.
Mnatsakanov spent several weeks in a coma after the car accident and was also paralyzed from the waist down.
The Detroit Red Wings did not announce the cause for his passing or any further details.
This is such a tragic loss to the hockey community, and our deepest wishes and condolences are with the Mnatsakanov family and friends during this time.
