Boston Bruins Are Set To Complete A Massive Transaction
In the midst of an outstanding December, Georgii Merkulov is turning heads in his second season with Providence, catching the attention of the Boston Bruins organization.
With 10 goals and eight assists in 12 games, the 23-year-old forward's impressive sophomore AHL season follows a successful All-Rookie Team campaign at Ohio State University.
Highlighted by a notable two-goal, three-assist performance on Dec. 9, Merkulov's development is evident. Jim Montgomery, acknowledging the forward's growth, emphasized the improvement in his 200-foot game. As Boston broke a four-game winless streak against the Buffalo Sabres, Merkulov's potential call-up presents an exciting prospect for the Bruins' offense, especially with Matthew Poitras away at the World Junior Championship.
The opportunity for Merkulov's call-up remains a topic of speculation as Boston prepares to face the New Jersey Devils on Saturday.
