This is all just speculation, but are the Bruins set to win the Stanley Cup this year? They just broke a stat that they set during the year that they ended up winning the Stanley Cup last.
The Bruins just played in their first back-to-back of the season against the Philadelphia Flyers, and Seattle Kraken, and came out with wins in both games.
Not only did they beat both the Flyers, and Kraken, but they shutout both of them. Following their win against the Seattle Kraken, Sportsnet took to X (formerly twitter) and revealed that this is the first time the Boston Bruins have earned back-to-back shutouts since November of 2011.
Fans even took note of the coincidence that they ended setting this stat in November as well, and went on to win the Stanley Cup that year.
Now could all be a coincidence, but if the Boston Bruins can find their grove, they could easily be a contender this year. They went out and picked up some size on the back end picking up Nikita Zadorov, along with a number one centre in Elias Lindholm.
Joonas Korpisalo has been a bright spot for the Boston Bruins, although his record doesn't show it being 2-2-0 with a 2.70 goals against average, and a .894 save percentage. Korpisalo has kept the Bruins in games that they shouldn't have a chance in, but the Bruins offence has let him down.
The Bruins have the team, and are much more physical now then they were in the past couple of years. They have all the pieces to the puzzle to go for another Stanley Cup, and if they don't make it far this may be Montgomery's last year with the team.
