The day after the Boston Bruins resumed play of the 2024-25 NHL season, General Manager Don Sweeney shared a worrying report regarding top defenseman Charlie McAvoy.
Charlie McAvoy was admitted to the hospital during the 4 Nations Face-Off after suffering an infection that stemmed from a minor injury he suffered.
During Team USA's first game of the tournament, McAvoy suffered an injury to his right should acromicolavicular against Finland.
"Upon returning to Boston, he developed increasing pain, for which he was evaluated by the Boston Bruins' medical staff. After undergoing x-rays, MRIs, and bloodwork, he was diagnosed as having an infection in his right shoulder, as well as a significant injury to his AC joint.

Worrying News Surfaced Regarding Charlie McAvoy
Don Sweeney stated that McAvoy is "doing better" after suffering his shoulder injury at the 4 Nations. But Sweeney could not give a timeline for Charlie McAvoy's return to the Bruins lineup which is worrying. He also would not comment on the treatment he received from Team USA's medical staff.
«The care that Charlie received here is what's most important from the standpoint of where his health is at now. That's all that really matters,» Sweeney told reporters, per The Boston Globe's Jim McBride.
Hampus Lindholm will not return to the Bruins lineup the rest of the year, and it's unclear whether or not McAvoy will either. This is a massive loss for the Bruins who are fighting for their lives to make the playoffs.
