Rumors have circulated for some time about a potential split between the Calgary Flames and defenseman Noah Hanifin, looming as the trade deadline approaches on March 8th.

Hanifin, set to become an unrestricted free agent next summer, seeks a move to a contender, while the Flames navigate an uncertain future.

According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, Hanifin's preference for a long-term contract has linked him to the Arizona Coyotes, Boston Bruins, and New Jersey Devils. Pagnotta revealed, "

Hanifin held off signing an eight-year extension with Calgary at the start of the season worth a reported $7.5M per season.

The Flames reapproached him recently, but no deal yet. Teams know what he wants long-term, which might not help trade negotiations from Calgary's perspective, but if the Flames can't convince him to stay, they'll look to move him.
"

Despite the looming uncertainty, Hanifin, 27, has showcased solid performance this season, poised to surpass his career-high of ten goals. In 45 games, the Boston native has amassed 25 points (eight goals, 17 assists), 22 penalty minutes, and boasts a plus-ten rating.

As the trade deadline approaches, the fate of Noah Hanifin remains intriguing, with the Calgary Flames potentially making a final attempt at securing his extension. In the meantime, speculation grows about which team among the mentioned contenders would be the ideal fit for Hanifin. Cast your vote in the poll below to share your thoughts on the matter.
