Boston Bruins newest defenseman already involved in drama and it's not good
Nikita Zadarov would spend several months with the Vancouver Canucks, and was unable to find a new contract with the team head East. He would sign a $30 Million dollar deal with the Boston Bruins, in hopes of securing a Stanley Cup.
However it was in November he would be dealt from the Calgary Flames to the Vancouver Canucks, in a deal in which the Canucks would send a 2024 fifth-round pick and a 2026 third-round draft pick.
But Zadarov mentions he'd rather have stayed a Flame than been dealt to another organization.
He would never receive a new contract offer from Craig Conroy:
"Before the last season started, I made it clear to the management that I want to stay," Zadorov said, "But in the end, all the other players received offers except me. After the season's bumpy start, we realized waiting until the trade deadline was pointless. We had to act quickly."
And after being eliminated from the playoffs by the Edmonton Oilers, he would try and negotiate with the Vancouver Canucks but that proved to be unsuccessful.
"We disagreed on the details before the playoffs and postponed the negotiations," Zadorov said. "After the playoffs, when I was in Vancouver, we tried to reach an agreement, but unfortunately, it didn't work."
He mentioned after his arrival in Boston, he and his family felt welcome thanks to the organization.
"The Bruins welcomed us very nicely," Zadorov said. "Our main intention was to find a new home and school for children. We did that. I also attended a practice and met the general manager, head coach, staff, and some players."
Zadarov would play 54 games with the Vancouver Canucks scoring 14 points( 5 G, 9 A) and posting 8 points( 4 G, 4 G ) in 13 playoff games.
