The Boston Bruins were eliminated by the Florida Panthers in the second round this year, ending their season. The focus since then has slowly been shifted to free agency and players who have to be re-signed, as the Bruins have $20 million to work with.

Seven players are rumored to be gone by July 1st and up for grabs for the other 31 teams to acquire. Jake DeBrusk, Patrick Maroon, Milan Lucic, Jayson Megna, James van Riemsdyk, Derek Forbort, Matt Grzelcyk, and Kevin Shattenkirk.
That's a huge hit to their forward core. The biggest single hit though is Jake DeBrusk. DeBrusk is 27 years old and is the left wing on Pastrnak's and Geekie's line. DeBrusk had 40 points in 80 games this year. In his career with the Bruins, he has 266 points in 465 games.
Now, Boston still has $20 million in the tank, but it all depends on whether or not they want to try to bring them back or if they want to start fresh. For a rebuilding year, the fact they made it to the second round was a milestone by itself. They need more in the tank if they want to make it farther.
We'll see what they do leading up to and on July 1st.
