Boston Bruins reporter hints at a trade that could emerge soon with the Bruins
The Calgary Flames and Craig Conroy are in an untenable position with prospect Matthew Coronato.
Coronato started the season strong with 2 goals in 5 games for the Flames, before Yegor Sharangovich's return to the lineup. This led to a quandary for the Flames, but the good kind as they have talent to spare.
But for Coronato, it means more time in the AHL with the Wranglers, and he'll have to continue developing in the minors.
This moment set the player's agent on fire, along with fans, and he even took a shot at Anthony Mantha.
«Generally, this has been a very positive start for [the Flames],» Friedman said. «And as frustrated as you might be as a prospect and as frustrated as you might be as an agent, you can't do this stuff when the team is winning. I worry for Coronato that the veterans will look at this and say, Wait a second, we're doing well, and this is what's coming out?' It's not going to go over very well, and it's going to have to be settled.
Don Sweeney should look into the cost of acquiring Coronato, who has proven himself to be a reliable NHL forward.
With Conroy prioritizing the wrong player, Sweeney could take advantage of a rebuilding team making a mistake.
Coronato scored 42 points in the AHL( 15 G, 27 A) and in the NHL has proven himself a great linemate where he's been placed.
No serious red flags that I can discern from what the scouts say." Josh Bell of FC Hockey - July 8th: "He's an all-situations player that shows strong puck skill and great transition. He needs to improve his explosiveness and decision-making at times."
He could be the next big Bruins forward, as they have likely placed Fabian Lysell, and Georgii Merkulov into busy territory since they refuse to promote them over players like Tyler Johson, Max Jones, or Mark Kastelic.
The Bruin's top six is decimated, and they need reliable, swiss-army knife players like Coronato who can play on both sides of the puck.
Coronato is a defensively sound prospect, who could be a great addition in place of Morgan Geekie.
It's unfortunate that Coronato doesn't have to clear waivers or else Sweeney would have a great reason to act in advance.
For now, the Bruins remain at status quo, but why?
