Former Boston Bruins goaltender Linus Ullmark opened up and explained why he didn't drop the gloves with Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington.

Tuesday night we almost got to witness the first goalie fight in awhile, when former Boston Bruins goaltender Linus Ullmark challenged St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington to a fight, and now Linus Ullmark has revealed why the fight did not happen.

It appeared that the two goaltenders wanted to drop the gloves during the game, but nothing happened. This all started with just over five minutes left in the third period, and the Ottawa Senators were blowing out St. Louis when a brawl broke out near Binnington's crease.

Binnington got in Brady Tkachuk's face, and not long after skated to the bench, after getting to the bench both goaltenders looked at each other, and Linus Ullmark started to make his way to centre ice, it looked like we were about to see a goalie fight, but nothing came out of it and Ullmark made his way back to his crease.

After the game, Linus Ullmark opened up about why the fight did not go down:

«It's just all an act, and we're up 7-1 at that point. It's not necessary for me to go down there,» he told reporters. «He just stood up for his guys and held off one of our best fighters as well. I'm pretty sure that Brady can take care of himself.

"I'd rather not do anything. If the time comes and I have to go and stick up for my teammates I'll do it," Ullmark added. «But like I said, there wasn't any need for that today.»

Jordan Binnington did not end up speaking to the media following the game.

Linus Ullmark is not one to fight, the only other time in his career when he nearly did is when he went after Matthew Tkachuk during the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs when the Bruins faced off against the Florida Panthers.
