Brazeau who stands at six foot five and 220 lbs played 19 games for the Bruins in his first year. He scored five goals with two assists for seven points and was a + 4 with 11 minutes in ice time. Well certainly not the offensive output that Jake Debrusk did, its likely general manager Don Sweeney and head coach Jim Montgomery will look to Brazeau to help fill that need.
He has shown the coaching staff that he has some skill along with his size which will give him a distinct advantage especially against heavier teams like the Florida Panthers. He may also find himself placed in multiple parts of the lineup as Montgomery tries to find him a spot that he can secure for the long term.
If he can find his game and become an effective winger, the Bruins will get an absolute bargain for his contract as he holds the league minimum $775,000 for this year. He will also be playing for a pay raise and another contract so he likely will be pushing hard for a great deal.
With the Bruins still locked in negotiations with starting goaltender Jeremy Swayman and who may be tying up the remaining $8.6 million in cap space, the Bruins will have to seek for players like Brazeau to fulfill the roles for the next couple of seasons.
