Captain Brad Marchand stood alone in putting the puck past the opposing goaltender on Thursday night as the Boston Bruins succumbed to a 3-1 defeat against the Buffalo Sabres.

Notably, he found himself entangled with a linesman, an incident that unfolded after a referee blew the whistle, penalizing Marchand for tripping Sabres' Henri Jokiharju behind Buffalo's net.
Anticipating a customary trip to the penalty box, Marchand, however, exhibited frustration, veering towards a linesman to contest the call. Simultaneously, Jokiharju rose to his feet, approaching Marchand, and tension escalated in the proximity of the official.
Expressing a willingness to engage in fisticuffs with Jokiharju and his teammates, Marchand signaled his intent. The linesman interposed between the rival players but became entangled with the Bruins' tenacious forward. Responding swiftly, another official charged towards the commotion, surprising Marchand with a tackle that brought him to the ice, halting the potential brawl.
Considering Marchand's propensity for trouble, particularly with the NHL's department of player safety regarding slew-footing, his escape with only a minor penalty for tripping seems fortunate. Perhaps, the league perceived a form of redemption as one of its linesmen intervened, subjecting the Bruins' captain to a taste of his own medicine.
Given Marchand's league-wide reputation, it appears that officials are quick to intervene when it comes to curbing the Bruins captain's displays of indiscipline.
