BREAKING: The Boston Bruins Have Officially Revealed Their Next Captain
With the retirement of Patrice Bergeron this summer, the Boston Bruins faced the challenge of selecting a new captain as they embark on their 100th season in the NHL. The wait is over.
In an announcement made on Wednesday, the Bruins proudly unveiled Brad Marchand as the new captain, marking him as the 27th player in the franchise's storied history to don the coveted 'C'.
Marchand, at 35, boasts an impressive 14-year NHL career exclusively with the Boston Bruins. During this time, he was a vital part of the team that secured the Stanley Cup in 2011. Over the course of 947 games, Marchand has accumulated a remarkable 862 points, including 372 goals and 490 assists.
The upcoming game against the New York Rangers on Sunday offers Bruins fans their first chance to witness Marchand's captaincy in action. The true test, however, awaits on October 11th as the Bruins kick off their Centennial season at home against the Chicago Blackhawks. It's a new era for the Bruins, led by their determined captain, Brad Marchand.
