Zdeno Chara issues a statement on Bergeron retiring

The towering defenseman, known for his imposing presence on the ice, spoke passionately about the invaluable qualities that Bergeron brought to their partnership, both on and off the rink.

Reflecting on their time together as co-captains of the Boston Bruins, Chara emphasized the exceptional leadership skills and genuine warmth that characterized Bergeron's personality.

"Patrice is just an unbelievable leader, an unbelievable human being,"
Chara stated, admiring his fellow player's remarkable qualities.

Describing Bergeron as outgoing and personable, Chara highlighted how their contrasting personalities formed the perfect balance in their captaincy.

The Slovakian defenseman, known for his stoic demeanor and relentless determination, appreciated the dynamic created by Bergeron's approachable and affable nature.

"It was not like I was the guy and everybody else. But I welcomed having guys in the leadership group. We had probably 5-6 guys making decisions together."
