Boston Bruins defenseman Hampus Lindholm exited the game late in the first period due to an injury and it's uncertain if he will return or not.

The Boston Bruins just gave Hampus Lindholm a big promotion heading into today's game against the St. Louis Blues, and now he may be injured.

The Bruins announced today that Hampus Lindholm would replace Charlie McAvoy on the top power play unit.

The Bruins have had two power play chances so far and have yet to capitalize on any of them.

Late in the first period Justin Brazeau ended up taking a penalty for hooking giving the Blues their first opportunity on the power play.

Hampus Lindholm put his body on the line by blocking a big shot from the point but would end up paying for it.

Hampus Lindholm sells out with a big shot block on the kill.

With two minutes remaining in the first period, NESN showed Hampus Lindholm leaving the Boston Bruins bench after sitting there for a minute following the block and entering down the tunnel.

NESN broadcast shows Hampus Lindholm going to the room with 2:00 left in the first after that big shot block. He stayed on the bench for a minute at first.

This would be a big loss for the Bruins as Lindholm has been one of the Bruins best defenseman so far this year.

Losing him especially in the situation they are right now with all the struggles they are going through would not be ideal timing.

If anything else comes out on this we will make sure to keep you updated. Stay tuned.
