Mason Lohrei, the 22 year old defenseman, is the first player to dress up from the state of Louisiana, making it now 42 states where the players came from.
Lohrei was a second round pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. He spent last year with Ohio State University and had 32 points in 40 games. This season with the Providence Bruins of the AHL, he had 4 assists in 7 games.
Mason was brought up because of the four game suspension dealt to Charlie McAvoy for a check to the head, which he will be appealing.
He joins an already young defensive core and is going up against Austin Matthews' Leafs in his first game.
