Former Bruins head coach Don cherry voiced his opinion earlier yesterday regarding Rangers Matt Rempe's fight training that he is taking with former NHL are George Laraque.

Cherry feels that this kind of training is not necessary and could lead to major problems for Rempe and the NHL which may include a major suspension if a player is injured for a long period of time. His concerns were voiced on the Don cherry's Grapevine podcast.

"I don't think it's a good idea. The National Hockey League lets on that everything is spontaneous. You don't train to be a fighter. I don't think the NHL would be too happy. I think Rempe is setting himself up to be really suspended if he hurts somebody," he said.

Rempe has taken the NHL by storm after arriving from the Hartford Wolfpack in the latter half of this past season. The Rangers prospect took on many heavyweights throughout the NHL and left his impression amongst many of them that he has potential to be a good enforcer however he has much to learn.

Many officials an NHL pundits felt that Rempe needed to stop his fighting as he was continuously fighting every game and began to experience major injuries to his face and his head. In 17 games played with the Rangers, he had 71 penalty minutes.

It remains to be seen on whether his training will be effective and if anyone will attempt to fight him as he will now be a watched player by the rest of the NHL. It will also make Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette think about when to deploy Rempe.
