Despite the Boston Bruins cap issues, Dreger noted that he's fairly certain that the Bruins would match any offer. With that said, this would certainly be a scenario that doesn't favor them.
After a remarkable season backing up Linus Ullmark, Jeremy Swayman is heading into the offseason as one of the Bruins' top free agents.
All though, he is a restricted free agent, so the Bruins still have control over his signing rights. However, for their sake, they should be aiming to lock him up as soon as possible which might be harder than the Bruins think.
The netminder has shown that he can truly be a starter, and a lot of teams will be looking for a strong goalie this summer. So if the opportunity presents itself the Bruins could lose their back up.
In 37 games this season, Swayman put together a 24-6-4 record, honing a 2.27 GAA, and .920 SV%. There is no question that several teams would be looking to add the young superstar goaltender. to add a goaltender as reliable as him.
It should be interesting to see if any teams are bold enough to steal the Bruins goaltender from under their nose.
