After Jake DeBrusk left the Boston Bruins for a fresh start with the Vancouver Canucks, the Bruins have been short-scoring talent.
The New York Rangers are also a team who have been struggling and GM Chris Drury has been dealing with other NHL teams before the start of the trade deadline.
With one of their top forwards being placed on the trade block, could they make a deal to secure Chris Kreider?
Krieder's been a lifelong New York Ranger and was placed on the block, along with Jacob Trouba. Trouba has since been stripped of the "C" via trade, and you have to think that GM Chris Drury would like to capture more space to sign their RFAs.
This season Chris Kreider has only scored 11 points(10 G, 1 A) and is struggling on a New York Rangers team, which can't decide whether to be consistent or terrible.
It seems to have affected the team and for Kreider, the possibility of him eclipsing his 39 goa, 75-point season from 2023-2024 seems impossible.
As it stands now, Kreider is on pace for 35 points this season and could use a fresh start elsewhere.
Why not Boston? He's a great and gritty forward who was used on the power-play as someone who can occupy the front of the net.
In the last three seasons, he's scored 30+ points and has been one of the Rangers' best forwards.
Another selling point GM Don Sweeney could use for the forward would be a chance to return home to Massachusetts and play for his hometown team.
Kyle Palmieri has turned out to be a surprise for the New York Islanders, as he's provided reliable production on a struggling roster.
The 33-year-old forward is in the final year of his contract and could be useful on a squad that could use goal-scoring depth. Palmieri has scored 24 points( 11 G, 13 A) in 31 games this season.
Last season he was a 30-goal, 50+ point scorer in 82 games, and has a cap hit of $5 Million.
Should the Bruins make a run for the post-season, he could prove to be a useful rental or long-term investment if the Bruins move cap space to fit him in the lineup.
According to NHL Inside Elliotte Friedman the Boston Bruins are one team who has expressed interest in the Buffalo Sabres forward.
He could prove to be a useful wing, on RW2 where Justin Brazeau sits, and give Elias Lindholm another finisher on the line.
The 28-year-old has scored 24 points( 8 G, 16 A) with 24 hits, and a plus +8.
GM Kevyn Adams wasn't open to moving him last season, but given the team's slump could be a trade-target for the Bruins.
