The Bruins have a 2016 first-round pick whose name is once again in trade rumors.

While the last time Trent Frederic's name name was making the round in trade talks, there were several teams interested in acquiring the forward.

This time NHL Insider Chris Johnston has placed the forward at number 11th on the trade board for the Athletic.

Given his incredibly chippy style of play and ability to contribute solid secondary scoring, he could be a popular player once the deadline is near. Playoff teams always value players who play with an edge.

Frederic is a two-way forward, who plays a chippy-game and isn't afraid of dropping the mitts to protect his friends.

His career's uptick began during JIm Montgomery's time with the Boston Bruins as he scored 40 points( 18 G, 22 A) in 2023-2024. After a 31-point campaign at the start of Montgomery's tenure.

He could be a valuable add in terms of secondary-scoring for a contending team in the NHL.

Frederic is due to be an unrestricted free agent after this season if he and Boston don't agree on a new deal to replace the two-year, $4.6 million pact he signed in August 2023.

But the movement would depend upon where the Bruins stand before March, and if they can get an extension signed with the player.

The chances of Frederic being moved will depend on whether the Bruins can turn their campaign around. If they continue to struggle and he does not have an extension finalized, he could become a top trade chip for the Bruins. However, if the Bruins get back to being a true playoff team, the St. Louis native should stay put.

This season in 22 games with the Boston Bruins he's scored 6 points( 3 G, 3 A) and a -11.

A far cry from his 2023-2024 season, which saw him post a career-high in goals, points, and assists.

The last NHL personality who mentioned the possibility of Frederic being moved was Kevin Weekes early in November.

Multi-channeled analyst/broadcaster Kevin Weekes went public Tuesday with news that his sources have told him several teams are interested in acquiring the 6'3", 220-pound center, who was picked No. 29 overall in the 2016 draft by the Bruins.

Could this be it? Since they moved Jim Montgomery, will the tear it all down after the fact?
