The Bruins are gearing up to reintegrate one of their defensemen into the lineup, with Matt Grzelcyk officially activated from LTIR, according to the team's recent announcement.

To make room under the salary cap, the Bruins have reassigned defenseman Mason Lohrei and forward Patrick Brown to AHL Providence.

Bruins are now carrying one extra forward and defenseman.

Grzelcyk had been sidelined for the past three and a half weeks due to an upper-body injury sustained late last month against Florida.

The activation comes as he meets the mandatory criteria for LTIR placement, requiring a player to miss a minimum of 10 games and 24 days. With both thresholds reached, Grzelcyk is set to return for tonight's game against the Rangers.

While the 29-year-old defenseman has been a reliable secondary contributor in the past, this season has seen him relatively quiet on that front, garnering just a single point (a goal) over his first nine appearances.

Considering his impressive track record, including a career-high 26 points in the 2022-23 season, Boston will undoubtedly be looking for Grzelcyk to ramp up his offensive contributions moving forward.

The return of this seasoned blueliner adds depth and experience to the Bruins' defensive lineup, and fans will be eager to see his impact in the upcoming games.
