It took the Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning three months to matchup for the first time this season, but they won't have to wait long for the rematch which is going to take place in just five days.
The rematch could very well get ugly after the way things ended during their matchup on Thursday night between the Atlantic Division rivals.
In the first period there was some a bit of chippiness between Tampa defenseman Erik Cernak and Mason Lohrei, as he thought Lohrei shot the puck at Vasilevskiy after the whistle, but other then that there wasn't much going on.
The third period was a completely different story for the two teams
With under 10 seconds remaining Bruins forward Mark Kastelic who leads the NHL in hits, went for another one on Emil Lilleberg but ended up receiving a stick to the face.
Kastelic was not a fan of this and instantly dropped the gloves with Lilleberg, after throwing some big punches Kastelic ended up missing one and lost his balance allowing Lilleberg to throw him to the ice, and it looked like Lilleberg banged Kastelic's head off of the ice.
Getting up after the fight Kastelic was visibly wobbly and was yelling at Lilleberg, and defenseman Parker Wotherspoon helped Kastelic get to the bench by guiding him with his arm.
The officials ended up taking a look at the play and Lilleberg was given two majors on the play, one for fighting and one for cross-checking along with a game misconduct which could lead to further discipline by the league.
Now an announcement has been made regarding Lilleberg's suspension fate and it's surprising.
There has been no announcement on whether or not the NHL Player Safety is going to further look into this incident so more then likely Lilleberg is going to get away with this cheap shot.
The NHL Player Safety is so inconsistent and it's not surprising that nothing is more then likely going to come out of this.
