The first trade has officially been completed according to reports this morning.

The Nashville Predators and Tampa Bay Lightning both got eliminated in the first round. The Predators put up a fight against a deep Canucks team losing in 6 games.

The Tampa Bay Lightning didn't really stand a chance against a stacked Florida Panthers team and it showed as they lost in the first round in 5 games.

Today both teams have combined for a surprising trade, Nashville sent Ryan McDonagh back to Tampa where he won a Stanley Cup with them.

Ryan McDonagh has been with the Nashville Predators for the past two years, and is now going back to Tampa Bay where he spent 5 years, from 2017-2022.

Nashville Predators General Manager Barry Trotz announced today that the team has acquired a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft and a second-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for defenseman Ryan McDonagh and Edmonton's fourth-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.

McDonagh was originally traded to Nashville as a cap dump, but it seems the Lightning feel they were a better team when he was on the roster.
