Gary Bettman Lies Once Again: Gives False Hope For Salary Cap Raise
The NHL has maintained a flat salary cap for three years, citing financial constraints.
Instead of focusing on increasing the cap and attracting new ownership, the league has prioritized unpopular advertisements on equipment and digital boards.
Good news hit last year that the salary cap was expected to go up $3-4M, well, that is sure not the truth, and this greatly hurts many organizations including the Boston Bruins.
Despite growing revenue and players shouldering escrow debt, the salary cap will only rise by $1 million next season, contradicting earlier statements.
NHL sponsorship revenue reached $623 million last season and is projected to double this year. The persistent question lingers as to why the owners and Gary Bettman persist in claiming financial difficulties despite these figures.
