Boston Bruins forward Georgi Merkulov had a gross assist on Justin Brazeau's goal tonight.

Jim Montgomery openly spoke about his displeasure with some of the young players heading into tonight's game, after their horrible game on Sunday against the New York Rangers, and they showed up tonight.

Mekulov took the puck into the Washington Capitals zone, and didn't have many options. He went to take the puck behind the net when he made a behind the back pass to Justin Brazeau who tucked it top corner.

Take a look:

Just pure filth from Merkulov.

Merkulov wasn't the only youngster to show up, as Fabian Lysell had a really solid game as well, after being called out by head coach Jim Montgomery just moments before the game.

Montgomery wasn't afraid to voice his opinion on what he thought about Fabian Lysell's game on Sunday, and Lysell showed up tonight, and even scored his first of the preseason with a beautiful snipe.

Montgomery on Lysell: «He needs to do a little more than he's done if he wants to make the Bruins.»

Adds that's true of most guys who played the first preseason game.

Who do you think would be a better replacement for Jake DeBrusk?
