Whether the players care about team records, this season has been special for the Bruins, but with 13 games remaining, they can become the greatest team of all time.
To date, the 2022-23 Bruins have set records for fastest team to 30, 40 and 50 wins in a season. Now, with a 53-11-5 record, the club is within range of the best season in league history.
A Season for the Record Books
According NHL Public Relations:
With 13 games remaining, the @NHLBruins (53-11-5) need 10 wins to set a new single-season NHL record.
The record of 62 wins is currently held by the 1995-96 Detroit Red Wings (62-13-7) and the 2019-20 Tampa Bay Lightning (62-16-4). While the most points in a single season was recorded by the Montreal Canadiens, who has 132 in the 1976-77 campaign.
Boston is still trending to surpass one and maybe both records, as they're currently on pace for 64 wins and 132 points.
If the Bruins finish the season with the NHL record for wins, let's hope it ends better than it did for the Lightning in 2020. As they were infamously swept in the first round by the eight-seeded Columbus Blue Jackets.
