Don Sweeney and the Boston Bruins have confirmed it for Brad Marchand.

Brad Marchand will be finishing his career with the Boston Bruins as reported by Bruins general manager Don Sweeney.

During the end of year press conference Don Sweeney was asked what the Bruins plan on doing with captain Brad Marchand as his contract is set to expire next year, and Don Sweeney confirmed Brad Marchand won't be going anywhere.

In the 2016-17 season Brad Marchand signed a $49 million contract for 8 years with the Boston Bruins and next year will be the last year of his deal.

Obviously it is in Brad Marchand's control on where he finishes his career, but he has stated that he wants to retire a Boston Bruin, and Don Sweeney spoke to the media about wanting to keep him here for his whole career.

«Yeah, we're going to get to Brad. He's learning patience as a captain as well,» Sweeney told reporters, per a Bruins transcript. «So, he has to learn there's some ducks in a row in terms of adding to our group and how he wants to add to that, and those guys that don't have contracts up ahead, and eventually he'll extend here. He'll be a lifelong Bruin, that's what we should do. But we'll check that box.»

Brad Marchand was originally drafted by the Boston Bruins and has played his whole career up until this point with the team, and fans hope that Brad Marchand will retire a Boston Bruin.
