An unexpected announcement was made involving Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas and the Boston Bruins.
It seems like the Boston Bruins will be in a bidding war against the Vancouver Canucks to acquire Martin Necas from the Carolina Hurricanes.
Both Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney and Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin will be getting themselves into a bidding war against each other to acquire Martin Necas, as reported both teams are showing a lot of interest in the restricted free agent.
This report was made from a well known insider Elliotte Friedman who believes both teams will heavily target him in the off-season.
"I do believe it's something these two teams talked about," said Friedman on the 32 Thoughts podcast. "I do think it's likely he gets moved, I just think that him and the Hurricanes don't see each other in the same value."
If the Boston Bruins were to try and acquire Martin Necas they would more than likely have to involve Linus Ullmark in the deal.
"I do believe the Bruins and the Hurricanes talked about an Ullmark deal," confirmed Friedman.
Linus Ullmark has a no trade clause and honestly controls his own fate, if he doesn't have the Hurricanes on his NTC than the Bruins wouldn't have a problem getting this deal done.
Friedman thinks a lot more teams will be interested in Necas but with Ullmark being trade bait, the Bruins have a good chance at making a deal happen.
