Free agency is coming up and there have been a lot of reports that think these players will not be coming back. The Bruins have a total of 11 free agents heading into free agency.
The first player to be rumoured to not returning is Linus Ullmark, who won the Vezina Trophy last year with the Boston Bruins. This year though Jeremy Swayman played in 12 out of 13 games for the Bruins in the playoffs, clearly taking over the starting position from Linus Ullmark. Ullmark almost got traded at the deadline, meaning the Bruins are willing to part ways with him.
Kevin Shattenkirk is the next player. Shattenkirk is 35 and not getting any younger, the Bruins have some veteran leadership so having Shattenkirk on the teams doesn't really make sense, if the Bruins want to go for another cup.
And lastly is Pat Maroon, who also isn't getting any younger as he is 36, but he plays a special type of game. The Bruins aren't likely to re-sign the enforcer, more than likely a Bruins prospect will get that roll with the team.
There are many more free agents the Bruins have, we will have to wait and see what general manager Don Sweeney does in the offseason.
