The Bruins fanbase will collectively hold their breath as we wait for an update on Charlie McAvoy, who left Thursday's game in the second and didn't return.

Let's Hope it's Precautionary

During the second period against the Maple Leafs, an accidental collision occurred between McAvoy and teammate Patrice Bergeron while defending a rush, that sent him hard into the end boards.

The defenseman wouldn't take another shift and the team officially ruled the him out of the game during the second intermission.

Already without Taylor Hall, Nick Foligno and Derek Forbort, Boston can't exactly afford many more injuries. Especially this close to the postseason and to a star like McAvoy.

Conor Ryan of Boston.com revealed that head coach Jim Montgomery provided an update on his defenseman after the 2-1 overtime win:

Jim Montgomery on McAvoy's injury. 'Just precautionary reasons. We don't think it's serious.''

The Bruins are back in action Saturday against the Devils. They need just two wins in the last four games to set the single-season win record.
