Jim Montgomery has revealed why he decided to break up the Boston Bruins top line of David Pastrnak, Elias Lindholm, and Pavel Zacha.

The Boston Bruins have been struggling offensively and defensively to start this season, and have started the season off 4-5-1. They currently sit 25th in the league, and dead last in the Atlantic Division.

Today Jim Montgomery made some big changes to the Boston Bruins roster , and one of the biggest changes was the Bruins breaking up their top line.

Throughout the year so far the top line is one of the lines that has yet to be really touched, and now Jim Montgomery is breaking them up.

Here are the new lines Jim Montgomery has put together:

Prax lines:

Beecher-Zacha-Pastrnak
Marchand-Lindholm-Kastelic
Jones-Coyle-Koepke
Frederic-Poitras-Brazeau
Johnson-Geekie

Lohrei-McAvoy
Lindholm-Carlo
Zadorov-Peeke
Wotherspoon

Swayman
Korpisalo

Montgomery spoke out on these line changes and stated that he's not sure why the line has yet to work, the Bruins thought this line would mesh well together but it hasn't so they are making changes.

Montgomery on why the Lindholm/Pastrnak duo hasn't gelled:

"I don't know. It should work. Two smart hockey players, two players that see the ice really well, two players that can shoot and pass. Two players that can skate. It just hasn't materialized. So we're changing it up."

Do you think breaking up the top line is a good idea?
