NHL insider Frank Seravalli spoke to Oilers insider Bob Stauffer and gave a projection of what kind of contract Draisaitl would be asking for. It seems that it would be in the range of $14 million per year as Draisaitl enters the heart of his playing career.
$14 million would certainly be a tall ask for any team but with the Boston Bruins preparing for a major overhaul over the next two years, it's quite possible the Bruins could find room to bring in the Oilers superstar.
There have been several rumors linking Draisaitl to the Bruins over the past number of months. Some pundits had felt that both teams could make a trade if Draisaitl was not prepared to commit for the long term and a goaltender could potentially be in return such as Linus Ullmark.
But nothing came about of these rumors, and news went quiet. But one thing continues to linger is that Draisaitl has not verbally said he would commit to the Oilers long term which makes people believe that he may look elsewhere for his next deal which would include the Bruins.
The team is in desperate need of a number one centre who would have Brad Marchand and or David Pastrnak on his line. Pastrnak Made it clear during a recent interview with the Spittin Chiclets saying how much he would love to have Draisaitl in Boston which led to many hosts dropping their mouths in shock.
The true off season has yet to begin, and it may get quite spicy over the next number of months.
