Member of the Boston Bruins organization takes a leave of absence
The Boston Bruins will be missing a key piece of their roster in the studio.
As Sophia Jurksztowicz has announced she will be taking a significant amount of time away from her job as NESN's Bruins' host.
The Bruins broadcaster took to social media on her Instagram account to update fans on her current status.
«This summer I signed a contract extension with NESN and I couldn't be happier to continue my journey as your Bruins host,» she wrote.
It sounds like it's nothing major and even if it was it will not hold her back from fulfilling her duties in the future.
«But due to personal reasons, I'm going to have to delay my season start with NESN and the team. I don't want anyone to worry, I WILL be okay, but right now I just need to take time away from work.
The reason is purely personal, and despite the fact she won't be able to start the season you shouldn't worry.
«I've received nothing but support from NESN with my circumstances and I seriously could not be more grateful to be working at NESN or more thankful for all the love from my teammates.
«It's only preseason, but I miss being at the rink already and I'm going to miss interacting with all of you too. You're the best fans in the world and you're my home away from home. I can't wait to be back. In the meantime, I'm always cheering.»
Jurksztowicz came from Sportsnet in Toronto in 2019 to join NESN and the Bruins in the broadcasting booth.
Whereas with Sportsnet she held multiple roles including reporter, host, and producer.
Jurksztowicz has also worked for other media organizations such as Hockey Night in Canada, as a social media reporter. Also with Rogers Sportsnet, theScore, and CBC.
In a statement, a NESN spokesperson said, «The NESN team wishes Sophia well during this time and looks forward to having her back on Bruins' broadcasts when she is ready to return. In the interim, we ask that everyone respect Sophia's privacy.»
The Bruins haven't replaced a temporary fill-in in Jurksztowicz's absence, but assuredly we will hear more as the story develops.
Return date TBD sounds like the best explanation.
