David Pastrnak left Boston Bruins fans in awe with his slick penalty shot, sparking an unexpected analogy from head coach Jim Montgomery. Montgomery drew a remarkable parallel, likening Pastrnak's shot to the unique pitching style of Red Sox Hall of Famer Luis Tiant, renowned for his unconventional windup during his Boston days from 1971-78.

Tiant himself noticed this unusual comparison on social media and shared his appreciation, stating,

"I like this! Many pitchers have been compared to me over the years, but never in hockey that was beautiful."

Pastrnak, after the Bruins' victory over the Nashville Predators, revealed that he drew inspiration from playing floorball in Europe. While he had experimented with this approach before the season with limited success, it proved effective for him, resulting in his third goal of the season. This new dimension to his game could be a valuable addition as Boston's offense adapts to a new era in its centennial season.

For Tiant, who fell short of entry into the Baseball Hall of Fame on multiple occasions, becoming an inspiration for athletes beyond baseball might just bolster his case and finally secure his place in Cooperstown.
