New details confirm information on Leon Draisaitl signing in Boston

There is a growing sense amongst the Edmonton Oilers that this team will be pulled apart over the next year as Oilers CEO Jeff Jackson has serious questions ahead of him especially in the general managers department as it was announced today that general manager Ken Holland will not return with the team.

One of the biggest ticket items that needs to be addressed by the new GM is signing Draisaitl to a long-term deal and over the past couple of months he has not been committal to the team and has deflected questions regarding his future with the Edmonton Oilers.

In the latter half of the season and close to the deadline, several reports were indicating a potential trade for his rights as he has one year remaining on his contract.

It remains to be seen on how the Oilers will play this and how general manager Don Sweeney will remain involved. A player of his calibre would be exactly what the Bruins need down the middle as they continue to seek star power with the departures of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci last year.

The window opens on July 1st for a potential new contract for Draisaitl and the Oilers but it appears it's unlikely to happen anytime soon.
