The Boston Bruins are continuing to assess their roster after making the major trade to the Ottawa Senators sending Linus Ullmark in exchange for Mark Kastelic, a first-round pick and Joonas Korpisalo.

This trade has made one Boston player potentially expendable in John Beecher. The Bruins benders podcast feels that Kastelic could send Beecher on his way to another team.

The 23-year-old winger centerman stands at six foot 3 and 216 lbs then was drafted by the Bruins in the 2019 entry draft, first round 30th overall. He split his time through Providence and Boston and through 52 games with the Bruins, he scored seven goals, with three assists and 10 points and was a - 6 with 24 penalty minutes.

Kastelic who is 6 foot four 226 lbs has played three seasons with the senators and while their points are very comparable, he has a total of 63 penalty minutes he seems to have the ability to fight and take face offs.

General manager Don Sweeney will certainly have many avenues to look at and it remains to be seen on what he will do with Beecher on whether to retain him or send him elsewhere.

The Bruins have much work to do especially down the middle and they will be aggressive in unrestricted free agency and potentially at the draft as they do not have any draft picks till the fourth round.
