If the Boston Bruins go through with a retool, they shouldn't let two players like Charlie Coyle and Brandon Carlo escape their gaze.

The Boston https://www.nhl.com/bruins/news/new-york-islanders-boston-bruins-game-recap-february-27-x1028 could be kicking a retool into gear as they're going to miss the playoffs for the first time in nine years.
2016, when GM Don Sweeney took the helm of the Bruins franchise and returned them to competitiveness.
He and the team would reach the Stanley Cup finals in 2019 only to be felled by the St. Lous Blues and GM Doug Armstrong.
Now, as the team prepares to figure out their next steps, if Trent Frederic is one Bruins player who is to be traded, the Bruins Network feels GM Don Sweeney should focus elsewhere too.
Players like Charlie Coyle, and Brandon Carlo should figure into the conversation of a retool as well.
Both players would likely fetch a nice haul for the Bruins, given how well they've played the last two seasons.
Let's not forget Coyle's career year in 2023-2024 under Jim Montgomery. In 82 games he scored 60 points (25 G, 35 A) with the B's.
Carlo would fetch a decent return according to NHL Insider Jimmy Murphy.
Multiple teams have shown interest in his services, with Boston willing to take a regular roster player and a 2025 second-round draft pick, or a high-profile prospect in return, according to RG.org's Jimmy Murphy.

While Coyle had an eight-team no-trade list GM Don Sweeney would have to consider, it's not difficult to see a contending team could value his contributions in the lineup.
But the 32-year-old veteran is everything a Cup contender would seemingly want in a third-line pivot. Coyle is signed through the 2025-26 season, and also has an eight-team no-trade list.

The Bruins need to consider all their options, and more than just Trent Frederic, and Brad Marchand if it is a true retool of the lineup.
The New York Rangers are an example of how ruthless a real reshaping of the lineup would be.
Is GM Don Sweeney afraid of some trades?
