The Bruins are embarking on a challenging stretch of four consecutive games against Atlantic Division rivals. Following tonight's game, they will host the Florida Panthers on Monday and the Toronto Maple Leafs next Thursday, then head to Detroit for a rematch with the Red Wings next Saturday.
Coach Jim Montgomery acknowledges the strength and competitiveness of the Atlantic Division, saying, "We need to find out where we stand against our divisional rivals. We've got three really strong teams coming in, and I think our division is stacked from top to bottom. It's going to be a good test for us, starting tonight."

Jeremy Swayman is set to guard the net for the Bruins. Swayman comes off a 23-save shutout victory against the Chicago Blackhawks, boasting a 3-0-0 record with a 1.34 GAA and an impressive .957 save percentage.

In the scoring department, David Pastrnak leads the Bruins with 6 goals and 10 points in seven games, while Charlie McAvoy tops the team in assists with six in seven games. McAvoy notably notched three assists in the recent 4-3 overtime loss to the Anaheim Ducks.

Wingers Jakub Lauko (facial fracture) and Milan Lucic (lower body) are both on week-to-week status, with Lucic now placed on long-term injury reserve.

With Lucic's move to long-term injury reserve, the Boston Bruins have recalled forward Oskar Steen from the Providence Bruins and assigned forward Jesper Boqvist back to the P-Bruins. Steen will join the lineup for tonight's game.

Notably, the Boston Bruins boast the best penalty kill in the NHL, successfully thwarting 30 of the 31 powerplays they've faced. However, their powerplay performance has room for improvement, going 4-for-25 on the man advantage.

Detroit Red Wings Insights

Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin is leading the team with 11 assists and 15 points, while Alex DeBrincat has lit the lamp with a team-high nine goals.

Ville Husso will take on goaltending duties for the Red Wings. Husso currently holds a 3-1-1 record with a 3.38 GAA and a .893 save percentage. He acknowledges the need for improvement, commenting, "I think just a couple of bad reads, and those cause goals. It's nothing crazy. Just gotta be more sharp. We had a really good practice (Friday)."
