Former Boston Bruin Handed Multiple Game Suspension
The Department of Player Safety in the National Hockey League (NHL) has taken action, announcing on Saturday that Buffalo Sabres defenseman Connor Clifton is facing a two-game suspension.
This decision follows an incident that unfolded less than 24 hours prior when Clifton was ejected during Friday's game against the New Jersey Devils for an illegal hit to the head of Devils' captain, Nico Hischier.
The incident took place during the first period of the game as Clifton lined up Hischier, who appeared unaware of the Sabres' defenseman's approach. Clifton executed the hit using his shoulder.
As a result of the suspension, Clifton will be absent from Sunday's game against the Colorado Avalanche and Wednesday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers. He will become eligible to return to the Buffalo Sabres' lineup on Friday, November 3rd, when they face the Philadelphia Flyers once again.
