The Boston Bruins Make Surprising Roster Moves

Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney made an announcement today, October 28, revealing that the team has designated forward Milan Lucic for long-term injured reserve.

In response, they've called up forward Oskar Steen from Providence.

Lucic, aged 35, has participated in four games with Boston this season, contributing two assists. Over his extensive NHL career spanning Boston, Calgary, Edmonton, and Los Angeles, the 6-foot-3, 236-pound forward has played 1177 games, amassing 233 goals and 353 assists for a total of 586 points. The Vancouver native was originally drafted by Boston in the second round (50th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Meanwhile, Steen, aged 25, has displayed his skills in five games with Providence this season, securing three goals and two assists for a total of five points. In his 201 AHL appearances, the 5-foot-9, 199-pound forward has tallied 44 goals and 61 assists, accumulating 105 points. Steen has also made appearances in 26 NHL games, contributing three goals and four assists, totalling seven points. The native of Karlstad, Sweden, was initially chosen by Boston in the sixth round (165th overall) of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
