The Boston Bruins signed goalie Jeremy Swayman to an 8-year, $8.25 Million AAV, $66 Million total deal this year. But since he's begun the season, he's not been the goalie the Bruins need him to be. Is he part of the problem in Boston?

According to the Bruins Network, we should stop treating Jeremy Swayman with kids gloves.

Swayman held out till October to sign a new deal with the Boston Bruins and missed a significant part of training camp.

Now with the possibility of the Bruins missing the post-season for the first time in 34-years fans, and pundits are pointing fingers.

Swayman held out for a better deal than was offered by GM Don Sweeney and the Bruins, and like Lewis Gross has done before, advised his client to withdraw his labor to meet their demands.

After missing training camp Swayman's totals this season are 29 games played, with a 13-13-3 record, with a 2.91 GAA, and a .891 save percentage.

Far from a $66 Million dollar goalie in the NHL.

While Swayman is part of the problem for the Bruins, the team itself had been underperforming at the beginning of the year.

It takes an entire team to win, and an entire team to shoulder the blame.

Swayman owns the blame of course, and with his performance in 2024-2025, could be considered overpaid by quite a margin.

He's not won a Stanley Cup, and while he has playoff experience, he hasn't been able to de-claw the Florida Panthers in order to push deeper into a cup run.

Is Swayman overpaid? Arguably so at this point in his career. He could rebound next season though.

Time will only tell, where the Bruins go from here, with hopes it's still the playoffs.
