The NHL's upcoming 2023 buyout window is expected to bring some action as teams aim to part ways with underperforming veterans. Last season saw seven players bought out, and this year's window, beginning either on June 15 or 48 hours after the Stanley Cup is awarded, presents four potential candidates for consideration, one Boston Bruins defensemen has landed on this list.

Anthony Mantha Washington Capitals: The Capitals attempted to trade Mantha multiple times last season without success. The acquisition from the Detroit Red Wings has proven to be a disappointment, and Washington is looking to revamp their top-six by cutting ties with Mantha this summer.

Kailer Yamamoto Edmonton Oilers: The Oilers could benefit from severing ties with their former first-round pick, as Yamamoto has struggled to consistently produce despite being given ample opportunities. With a $3.1 million cap hit, parting ways with Yamamoto during the buyout window would free up valuable cap space for the Oilers.

Mikael Granlund Pittsburgh Penguins: The Penguins' trade for Granlund puzzled many, and his performance did not meet expectations. If the new Penguins GM decides not to buy him out, Granlund is likely to be moved once free agency begins.

Mike Reilly Boston Bruins: Reilly spent most of last season in the minors, appearing in only 10 games with the Bruins. Boston, facing cap overages for bonuses from the 2022-23 season, aims to clean up their financial situation by buying out Reilly to kick off their offseason.

As the buyout window approaches, NHL teams will assess these candidates and make strategic decisions to reshape their rosters for the upcoming season.
