The Boston Bruins will compete against the New York Rangers for the preseason opener.

The game will begin at 5:00 PM at TD Garden in Boston, and the Bruins have released the lines.

Today notable players competing against the Rangers, are John Beecher, Georgii Merkulov, Fabian Lysell, Mason Lohrei, Parker Wotherspoon, Andrew Peeke, and Brandon Bussi.

Since the Bruins failed to acquire any more middle-six forwards, after acquiring Max Jones, and Mark Kastelic they will need to find a forward to fill the spot left by Jake DeBrusk along with a spot in the middle-six.

Forwards: Johnny Beecher, Patrick Brown, Riley Duran, John Farinacci, Mark Kastelic, Cole Koepke, Trevor Kuntar, Vinni Lettieri, Fabian Lysell, Georgii Merkulov, Jaxon Nelson, Riley Tufte

Defensemen: Frederic Brunet, Mason Lohrei, Jordan Oesterle, Andrew Peeke, Billy Sweezey, Parker Wotherspoon

Goaltenders: Brandon Bussi, Michael DiPietro

Fabian Lysell and Georgii Merkulov have been pitched as two young forwards who could fill the gaps left by the exit of Jake DeBrusk when he left for Vancouver in free agency.

While, Mason Lohrei, Parker Wotherspoon, and John Beecher are other Bruins youngsters who got long looks in the NHL last season, while the roster was banged up.

Could these players once again, make Jim Montgomery's life difficult and earn a spot on the roster?

Parker Wotherspoon played 41 games in the NHL last season, scoring 8 points with the Boston Bruins. With the Providence Bruins, he played 19 games, scoring 5 points( 1 G, 4 A).

While Mason Lohrei played 41 games in the NHL scoring 13 points( 4 G, 9 A), and 21 games in Providence, scoring 16 points( 1 G, 15 A).

John Beecher played as a depth forward in Boston playing 52 games scoring 10 points( 3 G, 7 A), and would play 17 games in Providence, scoring 8 points( 4 G, 4 A).

Fabian Lysell played exclusively in the AHL in Providence, playing 56 games scoring 50 points( 15 G, 35 A).

Georgii Merkulov played 4 games in the NHL, and 67 games in the AHL with the Providence Bruins, scoring 65 points( 30 G, 35 A).

The Bruins may not have the deepest prospect pool, but they have capable call-ups and future NHLers in Providence.
