In a remarkable moment for the Boston Bruins, rookie defenseman Mason Lohrei etched his name into the NHL record books.
Lohrei scored a game-winning goal in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, joining a select group of rookie defensemen who have achieved this feat.
He is the first rookie defenseman to score a playoff game-winner since Colorado's Cale Makar did so in Game 6 of the second round in 2020.
Lohrei's goal not only secured a win for the Bruins but also made him the fourth rookie defenseman in the team's history to score a game-winning goal in the postseason.
This elite group includes Connor Clifton, who scored in Game 2 of the 2019 Conference Finals; Bruce Shoebottom, who netted his in Game 2 of the 1988 Division Semifinals; and Mike Milbury, who scored in Game 3 of the 1977 Semifinals.
