The Boston Bruins and GM Don Sweeney have created an odd situation, where it's not brinksmanship, but could be seen as such.

As Jeremy Swayman has received his qualifying offer, which means that the Bruins will retain his right.

Other than Jeremy Swayman, Marc McLaughlin is the lone RFA left unsigned for the #NHLBruins #GetBent

However, he joins another RFA in waiting for a contract from the team, who is the other RFA? AHL Bruins own, Marc McLaughlin.

McLaughlin last signed a league minimum, $775K deal in the Bruins in 2023, a two-way contract of course. McLaughlin played in one NHL game during 2023-2024 and would notch a goal. He was a mainstay in the AHL, playing 68 games in Providence, scoring 14 points( 8 G, 6 A).

So, how has Don Sweeney let things go on this far, without letting his #1 goalie receive a solid contract offer?

It seems like negotiations could be happening, or is Sweeney simply running out the clock?

Either way, the oddity of this situation couldn't be more apparent.
