Team Canada Handed Boston Bruins Captain Brad Marchand A Major Demotion
captain Brad Marchand saw a major demotion from Team Canada heading into their previous game vs Team Finland.
When Team Canada was getting set for puck drop to take on Team USA, they were hit with some terrible news as NHL insider Elliotte Friedman revealed some troubling news for Team Canada as he stated that star defenseman Cale Makar would not play in one of their biggest games vs Team USA.
It was revealed that Makar was not missing due to an injury, but to illness instead.
Elliotte Friedman went on to reveal that Cale Makar will be able to return to Canada's roster during this tournament once he gets healthy.
Brad Marchand received a major demotion from Team Canada
When the 4 Nations originally revealed their rosters earlier in the year, they also revealed who were going to be the captain and alternate captains. The three that Canada went with were Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, and Cale Makar.
With Cale Makar out, Team Canada had to give the 'A' to someone else, and they chose no one other then Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand to wear the 'A' on his chest.
Heading into their game against Team Finland, Cale Makar was eligible to play for Team Canada and he got his 'A' back on his chest, and Brad Marchand was demoted.
Brad Marchand also saw more ice time after seeing just over 8 minutes in the game against Team USA, against Finland he played 14:13 of ice time.
It will be interesting to see how much he is used this time around when they face off against Team USA for the finals on Thursday night.
