During the off-season so far the Boston Bruins have focused on fulfilling their on ice needs by adding players in free agency and re-signing free agents except one in Jeremy Swayman.
Towards the end of the season, it was announced that Jack Edwards would be retiring, and he did so before the end of the first-round in the playoffs against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
It was just announced that the Boston Bruins and NESN have replaced Jack Edwards and have hired Judd Sirott to take over as the Boston Bruins full time play-by-play announcer at the beginning of the season.
«This job is unrivaled around the National Hockey League: an Original Six team, in a spectacular hockey market, in one of the premier cities in the country,» Sirott said via a press release. «It's my honor to be NESN's new play-by-play announcer for the Boston Bruins. It will be a privilege to work with Andy Brickley and the NESN production crew, and I'm grateful to the Boston Bruins organization, NESN and 98.5 The Sports Hub and many others, for this opportunity.»
Sirott was formerly the Bruins radio broadcast on the 98.5 The Sports Hub for the past seven years. He will now be taking over for Jack Edwards and will be beside color analyst Andy Brickley.
