In a Twitter post with Bruins reporter and social content producer Elaine Cavalieri on Wednesday, both players expressed their thoughts on what it means to be part of the esteemed Bruins organization.
Lohrei, who was drafted by the Bruins in 2020 and signed a two-year entry-level contract with the team on May 10th, shared his excitement about his journey so far. He spoke highly of the organization and the opportunity to meet everyone involved. "Being drafted by the Boston Bruins and experiencing the past three years as a prospect has been truly incredible. Meeting everyone within the organization and witnessing their operations has been unmatched," Lohrei expressed.
Lohrei's decision to leave his collegiate career at Ohio State, following an amateur tryout in March, demonstrated his dedication to pursuing his professional aspirations. He made his debut with the Providence Bruins on April 6th, contributing to their victory against the Hershey Bears. Throughout the season, Lohrei played five games for Providence in the AHL, recording one assist.
Poitras, on the other hand, was drafted by the Bruins in the second round in 2022 and signed a three-year entry-level contract with the team on May 5th. He had an impressive amateur season with the Guelph Storm in the Ontario Hockey League, tallying 16 goals and 79 assists as a forward.
Expressing his joy, Poitras conveyed his dreamlike experience of being part of any organization, but especially the Bruins. Despite only having been to development camp and last year's camp a few times, he acknowledged the unique atmosphere within the Bruins organization. He commended the staff, the people he had the opportunity to interact with, and the valuable learning experiences he had as a young player. Poitras described it as "a great spot to be."
As the NHL roster remains uncertain due to pending free agents and salary cap constraints, Coach Jim Montgomery will have legitimate options to consider when Bruins' training camp commences on September 20th at Warrior Ice Arena. Both Lohrei and Poitras could be potential candidates for the team, depending on various factors that need to be addressed by General Manager Don Sweeney.
